The Honeymoon Edit

Because "Generic" is not a love language

You’ve survived the seating charts and the floral arrangements; now comes the part where you actually get to breathe. We’ve skipped the heart-shaped rose petals and the buffet lines to curate six sanctuaries that prioritize architectural soul and genuine seclusion. From private island granite boulders in the Seychelles to a 12th-century palazzo on the shores of Lake Como, these are the escapes that reward the discerning.

Joali Being, Maldives

  • The Why: This is the Maldives, but with a soul. While most resorts just give you a villa and a sunset, Joali Being focuses on "weightless luxury." It’s architectural perfection meets deep wellness. It’s for the couple who wants to return from their honeymoon feeling better than when they arrived—without sacrificing the champagne.

  • The Tip: Request an Ocean Pool Villa on the sunset side. The "Wellbeing Bar" in the room is great, but the real magic is the sound therapy room—trust us, it works.

Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Seychelles

  • The Why: This is "Jurassic Park" meets Five-Star luxury. Located on the private island of Félicité, it’s surrounded by massive granite boulders and turquoise water. It’s for the couple who wants total seclusion. You don't just stay here; you disappear here.

  • The Tip: Villa 15 is the one to ask for. It’s tucked away at the edge of the rocks, offering total privacy and a view that looks like a screensaver come to life.

Passalacqua, Lake Como (Italy)

  • The Why: Voted the best hotel in the world recently, and yet it feels like a secret. This is a 12-suite 18th-century villa that was once home to composer Vincenzo Bellini. It’s "Quiet Luxury" personified—think Murano chandeliers, manicured gardens, and a pool area designed by JJ Martin (La DoubleJ). It’s the most romantic spot on the Lake, hands down.

  • The Tip: Request the Bellini Suite. It’s the largest on the property and feels like living inside a Renaissance painting.

Le Sirenuse, Positano (Italy)

  • The Why: If Positano is the heart of the Amalfi Coast, Le Sirenuse is its heartbeat. It’s family-run, red-hued, and dripping in old-world glamour. It feels less like a hotel and more like the private palazzo of your incredibly wealthy, very tasteful Italian uncle.

  • The Tip: You want a Junior Suite Superior. Specifically, one with a balcony overlooking the church dome. If you aren't having an Aperol Spritz here by 5:00 PM, you’re doing Positano wrong.

Asia: Nihi Sumba, Indonesia

  • The Why: This isn't Bali, and that’s the point. Located on the remote island of Sumba, Nihi is what happens when a surf break meets world-class philanthropy and 27 uniquely designed villas. It’s "The Edge of Wildness." You’ll find horses roaming the beach at sunrise and a level of privacy that makes you feel like the only two people on earth. It’s raw, it’s expensive, and it’s utterly soulful.

  • The Room to Request: The Marangga Villa. It’s a one-bedroom cliffside sanctuary with a bed that sits on a literal platform overlooking the Indian Ocean. It has its own private plunge pool and a garden shower that defines "barefoot luxury."

  • The Tip: Book the Spa Safari. You hike (or are driven) to a remote clifftop at Nihi Oka, where you spend the entire day receiving unlimited treatments in a private bale between swims in the ocean. It is, quite simply, the best spa day on the planet.

Caribbean: Hermitage Bay, Antigua

  • The Why: The Caribbean is full of "luxury resorts," but Hermitage Bay is a "retreat." With only 30 eco-chic suites tucked into a hidden cove, it feels more like a private club than a hotel. It’s all-inclusive, but forget the buffets—think multi-course organic meals, premium spirits, and a staff that remembers your name before you’ve even checked in. It’s quiet, romantic, and beautifully understated.

  • The Room to Request: A Hillside Pool Suite. You want to be high up for the view. The suites are built into the tropical gardens, and the private infinity pools face West—perfect for a private sunset dip with a bottle of something cold.

  • The Tip: Ask the kitchen to pack a Picnic Lunch and have the boat drop you off at one of the nearby deserted beaches for the afternoon. It’s the ultimate "Globenomads" move: having an entire Caribbean beach to yourselves.
